22/03/2007 (SPS) A Saharawi cultural right of solidarity was
organised on Tuesday evening in London on the initiative of the non
governmental organisation "Sandblast", within the framework of a
campaign aiming to introduce the Saharawi cultural and literary
heritage to the British audience.
The demonstration that took place in Canning House in London, was
inaugurated with a speech of the President of Sandbladt, Mrs.
Danielle Smith, ho evoked the last developments of the Saharawi
question.
She also put forward the deepness and the authenticity of the
culture of Western Sahara as well as the role of its cultural
heritage in the consecration of a Saharawi culture, which is
distinguished by its style of expression and its aesthetic and
artistic values.
Poems were recited by young Saharawi poets, Limam Abicha and El-Ouali
Lahcen, who write their poetry in Spanish, what reflects the
important cultural ties that links the Saharawi culture with the
Spanish and the Latino American’s.
Other poets such as the Chilean, Carlos Reyes-Marzo, and Cuban, Omar
Garcia, recited poems, of which the first was inspired by poet
Reyes-Marzo to the Saharawi refugee camps and to the liberated
territories of the Saharawi Republic, while the second talks about
the sufferings of the exile in a remarkable poetical style.
In the end of the night, the young Saharawi singer, Mrs. Aziza
Ibrahim, charmed the audience with its Saharawi traditional and
modern songs before she was joined by the Venezuelan singer, Luzmira.
