21/03/2007 (SPS) The French-Saharawi Committee for the respect of
the human rights in the Western Sahara (CORELSO) called on the
candidates of the French presidential elections to define the
measures they will adopt to "end the decolonisation process in the
Western Sahara through the organisation of a referendum on
self-determination enabling the Saharawi people to freely decide on
its future".
In a letter addressed to these candidates, the CORELSO also invited
them to reveal the measures "to put pressures on Morocco to abandon
its autonomy plan and respect its international engagements".
The CORELSO also recalled that "Morocco has launched a diplomatic
initiative to the concerned countries to try to convince them
endorse an internal autonomy plan that violate the international
law, and at the same time Rabat continuous its policy of repression
against the Saharawi population of the occupied territories who
demonstrate peacefully, especially since 2005 to express their right
to self-determination". (SPS)
