SADR/ALGERIA

Saharawi Prime Minister happy with the support of the Algerian civil society

Algiers, 21/03/2007 (SPS) The Saharawi Prime Minister, Abdelkader Taleb Omar, expressed his happiness with the support of the civil society in Algeria, indicating that it was always backing the Saharawi people, reported the Algerian press agency, APS.

Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, who met with the President of the Algerian National Committee of solidarity with the Saharawi people (CNASPS), Mr. Mahrez Lamari at the seat of APC, in Algiers Centre, the city twined with the camp of El-Aaiun, thanked the Algerian society for the "ties of brotherhood and good neighbourhood that link the two peoples".

Expressing his "satisfaction" with the position of the Spanish civil society and political parties, especially the "statement of the king of Spain in Algiers" regarding the "Saharawi people’s right to self-determination", Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar hoped that "the Spanish government respects the resolution adopted by the Spanish parliament in favour of the Saharawi people".

On his side, Mr. Lamari indicated that "through the CNASPS, composed of representatives of the civil society, parliamentarians and local elected, we call for the implementation of the international legality and UN’s resolutions that consecrated the Saharawi people’s right to self-determination".

He underlined that "this encounter, which intervenes in the eve of the UN Security Council meeting, aims to reaffirm our support and solidarity to the Saharawi Republic and to the Saharawi people". (SPS)
