El Aaiun (occupied territories),
14/03/2007 (SPS) The Moroccan colonial court of appeal in the
occupied city of El Aaiun, confirmed on Tuesday the sentence of 18
months against the Saharawi political prisoner, Laroussi Choubeida,
indicated the Saharawi Association of the Victims of the Gross Human
rights Violations committed by the Moroccan State (ASVDH).
The same court decided to suit Mr. Choubeida, for having "chanted
before the court slogans in favour o the independence of the Western
Sahara and condemned the iniquitous trial that does not respect the
criterion of a fair and ust judgment", the same source stressed.
Another Saharawi political prisoner, Alamine Badda, was also
condemned on Wednesday to one year and 6 months imprisonment by the
same court, it should be recalled.
On another hand, the Saharawi students, El Hafed Lekhoueimid,
Yacine Toubali, Ali Feyan, Fadili Dow, Lemseyid El houcein, Bouba
Mohamed and Sidati Mohguen were arrested in the occupied city of El
Aaiun between Thursday to Sunday, for they participated to peaceful
demonstrations claiming the Saharawi people’s right to
self-determination.
Meanwhile in the occupied city of Smara, one persona t least was
arrested and tortured by the Moroccan forces of repression before he
was abandoned by the same forces in a bad shape.
The victim is Mr. Brahim Labeid Boumrah, whose family house was
ransacked and his mother, Ghalatt was threatened by the Moroccan
police, indicated a source from the Saharawi Ministry of Occupied
Territories and Communities.
On his side, the winner of the 2002 RAFTO Price for human rights,
Sidi Mohamed Dedech, denounced the barbarous repression perpetrated
on Sunday by the Moroccan forces in the occupied city of Dakhla,
which caused 33 persons wounded at least and four arrestees in a bad
situation, according to the first information by the same source.
In a press release published on Wednesday, of which SPS received a
copy, Mr. Dedech denounced "the barbarous repression by the Moroccan
authorities against the Saharawi civilians, who demonstrated
peacefully to claim their legitimate right to freedom, dignity and
independence".
Mr. Dedech asked for the "release of the Saharawi political
prisoners, the revelation of the truth about more than 526 Saharawi
disappeareds and 151 prisoners of war". (SPS)
