Algiers, 14/03/2007 (SPS) During a toast he pronounced on the
occasion of the launch offered to him by the Algerian President,
Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Tuesday in Algiers, the King of Spain, Juan
Carlos, underlined the urgency of a "just and lasting" political
solution, that provides for the self-determination of the Saharawi
people.
"It is urgent, as recently underlined by my government, to find a
just and lasting political solution that is acceptable by the
parties to the conflict of the Western Sahara, a solution that
provides for the free determination of this people and passes
through a dialogue between the parties within the UN", the Spanish
king affirmed.
To the Spanish King, "the Maghreb is naturally a priority zone for
the Spanish foreign policy". He added that his country "steadily
supports the Maghreb and Arab Unions (...) feed the hope that our
friends and neighbours from the Maghreb can progress in achieving a
wider regional integration". (SPS)
