SADRD/ANNIVERSAIRY

A memorandum on the Western Sahara submitted to the UN Secretary General

Tifariti (liberated territories), 28/02/2007 (SPS) A memorandum on the Western Sahara was submitted Tuesday evening to the UN’s Secretary General, Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, by the participants to the International Conference of Solidarity with the Saharawi people at the end of its works in Tifariti, in the liberated territories of the Saharawi Republic.

This memorandum reiterates the attachment of the Saharawi people to a peaceful solution to the conflict and categorically rejects the unilateral project of autonomy proposed by Morocco.

The document estimates that the Moroccan project is condemned to failure because it is built on false basis and proposes an unacceptable and dangerous solution.

This new manipulation by Morocco aims to extort from the international community a renunciation to the fundamental human right, is vouched to be a non-event.

Now, a settlement to the problem of the Western Sahara that is just, definitive and respectful of the international legality is not only necessary but also possible, it was suggested.

On another hand, Polisario Front says its ready to cooperate with the UN Secretary general to attain a political solution mutually acceptable providing for right to self-determination to the Saharawi people.

The participants to the conference finally addressed a message to the President of Algerian in which they expressed to him their recognition to all the efforts he deploys for the support and defence of the just cause in the world, especially in the Western Sahara. (SPS)
