Oran, 19/02/2007 (SPS) A caravan composed of 32 trucks
carrying 250 tons of food to the populations of the Saharawi refugee
camps arrived on Saturday to the Algerian seaport of Oran on the
initiative of the Spanish associative movement, reported the
Algerian press agency, APS, on Sunday, quoting, M. Ali Biyane,
representative of the Algerian Red Crescent.
The procedures are currently followed so as to send this aid from
the Spanish associations of support to the Saharawi refugees, the
same source indicated.
Mr. Biyane recalled that another caravan composed of 50 trucks
transporting 150 tons of aid was already dispatched to the Saharawi
refugee camps.
The Spanish Ministry for Foreign Affairs had recently announced that
an emergency humanitarian aid of more than 3.000 tons will be sent
in the near future to the Saharawi refugee camps to counter the
effects of the serious food situation to which the Saharawi refugees
are victim lately.
