SADR/KENYA/WORLD SOCIAL FORUM

Arrival to Nairobi of the Saharawi delegation for the World Social Forum     

  (Special Envoys)

 

Nairobi, 19/01/2007 (SPS) An important Saharawi delegation arrived on Thursday evening to Nairobi, the Capital of Kenya, to take part to the activities of the 7th edition of the World Social Forum (WSF) which will be organised from the 20th to the 25th January.

 

Upon their arrival at the international airport of Nairobi, the members of the Saharawi delegation were received by the Ambassador of the Saharawi Republic accredited in Kenya, Mr. Hamdi Bueiha, and his Prime Secretary.

 

The Saharawi cause, will be thus fully represented this year in the WSF, which gathers hundreds thousands members o organisations, associations, political parties and other representatives of civil societies from the different regions of the world.

 

The event count in this edition with the participation of more than 150 thousands activist, more than 1000 activities covering all domains and preoccupations of the international social actors, in addition to 106 spaces where the activities, debates, conferences and workshops will take place.

 

Concerning the Saharawi participation in this free and democratic debates, and cultural, social and political exchange, the Saharawi delegation is planning to animate three workshops on Human Rights, Natural Resources, and the Decolonisation of the Western Sahara and the International law, in addition to other cultural and musical activities and active participations in other workshops scheduled by different organisations and international actors, according to the Saharawi organisers.

 

The World Social Forum, which is held each year as a social and humanitarian bound alternative to other Forums that are more or less considered as representative of globalisation and new imperialism, s considered by many actors of the civil societies as a step forwards towards the organisation and opening of a real dialogue between cultures, individuals and peoples for the good of humanity and in the face of the discourse that praises the theories of civilisations’ clash, globalisation and the agendas and programmes of big powers.
