18/01/2007 (SPS) the French Association of the Friends of the
Saharawi Republic (AARASD) expressed its satisfaction about the
result of the trial of the Saharawi human rights activist, Enâama
Asfari, having been judged by the Moroccan court to two months
suspended imprisonment.
The arrest of Enâama Asfari last January the 5th by the
forces of Moroccan security in Smara, while he was undertaking a
family visit in company of his wife and parents-in law "was choking,
It has generated a wide mobilisation in the Western Sahara,
especially in Smara, as well as in France and Europe. This
mobilization provided support and solidarity to the Saharawi
activist and force the Moroccan State to step back", the Association
wrote in a press release reported by the Algerian Press Service, APS.
"Henceforth, the resistance against the Moroccan regime in the
Western Sahara becomes a necessity", the AARASD declared. (SPS)
