OCCUPIED TERRITORIES/SOUTH OF MOROCCO/REPRESSION

Two persons arrested in the south of Morocco and in the occupied city of Smara    

 

Taghajijit (south of Morocco), 14/01/2007 (SPS) Two Saharawi citizens were arrested by the Moroccan forces on Friday in the city of Taghjijit, accusing them of been the instigators of the last demonstrations that took place in the city, a source from the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Communities indicated.

 

The arrestee are Mr. Hassan Bachir Mohamed Boufi and Mr. Mohamed Houssein Brahim Erjdal, who were led to a police station in the city, tortured and interrogated fof hours, the same source added.

 

The two victims expressed their "attachment to the Saharawi people’s inalienable right to self-determination and chanted slogans advocating the immediate withdrawal of the Moroccan occupation from the Saharawi territories still under occupation", it was added.

 

On another hand, a young Saharawi, Batal Souheil, was arrested on Thursday evening by the Moroccan forces of repression during demonstrations organised by the Saharawi students in the occupied city of Smara, to denounce the arrest of the Saharawi human rights activist, Ennaama Asfari, and demanded the immediate and unconditional release f the Saharawi political prisoners.

 

Mr. Batal Souheil was released under the pressures of mothers of families supported by students that gatherd in fron t of the police stattion, the same source underlined. (SPS)
