MOROCCO/HUMAN RIGHTS/REPRESSION

Three wounded at least in confrontations between Saharawis and the Moroccan occupation in M’hamid El Ghezlan

M’hamid El Ghezlan (South of Morocco), 21/12/2006 (SPS) Three Saharawi citizens were injured during confrontations, on Wednesday in M’hamid El Ghezlan (Morocco), between Moroccan police and Saharawis, who are undertaking a sit-in for the last six months in front of the administrative buildings of the city claiming for employment and for the respect of human rights.

The forces of police and gendarmerie "intervened brutally to ransack the tents", built by the demonstrators since the beginning of the sit-in six months ago, a close source to the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Communities indicated.

This "violent" intervention caused three injured victims at least, Laroussi Smail, Loud Fatimetou, Bachir Abba Ali and his Mother and Sadiki Lalla Fatma as well as others still not identified, the same source added. (SPS)
