Paris,
20/12/2006 (SPS) The French Association of Friendship and Solidarity
with the People of Africa (AFASPA) recalled the French government
that the "the support to the expansionist policy of the Moroccan
State is not conform to honour nor to the interest of our country
and the countries of the region, nor does it resolve the political
and economical situation of Morocco".
In a letter to the French Minister for Foreign Affairs, Philippe
Douste Blazy, the AFASPA underlined that Paris "must stop supporting
the Moroccan demands by opposing, during the elaboration of the UN
resolution, to any mentioning of the human rights violations and
putting obstacles to the implementation of a free and democratic
self-determination referendum".
The text, in addition to the testimony of Mrs. El Ghalia Djimi, who
was subjected last December the 10 to torture by the Moroccan police
when she was commemorating the International day for Human Rights in
the occupied El Aaiun, informs about the repression that marked the
celebration of this day in the Saharawi cities.
"Many persons, women and men of all ages were beaten in the streets
by the Moroccan police and forces, some of them were arrested and
houses were ransacked the next day" of the commemoration of this
international day, indicated the letter of which SPS received a
copy.
