Nine Saharawi citizens arrested and others wounded after demonstrations in the occupied El Aaiun

 

El Aaiun (occupied territories), 19/12/2006 (SPS) Nine Saharawi youngsters were arrested and two wounded after demonstrations that started on Sunday evening in the ‘Hay Maatala’ neighbourhood in El Aaiun, calling to the self-determination of the Saharawi people, indicated a source form the Saharawi Ministry for Occupied territories and communities.

 

The arrestees are: Abdallah El Wahidi, Babeit Brahim, Lemoissi Nasser, Mbarek Hanouchi, Morina Ragueb, Al Omria Brahim, Hayat Rgueibi, Ahmed Hamdan and Bazeid Lehmad, while Nguiya Haouassi and Rabiaa Alouatt were "seriously" wounded.

 

Nine other Saharawi youngsters were arrested last Friday night by the Moroccan forces in the occupied city of El Aaiun, were demonstrators organised a demonstration asking for the immediate withdrawal of the Moroccan occupation from the Saharawi territory.

 

On another hand, two mothers of families, Oum Saad Mohamed Karoum and Salka Daghch were interpellated by the Moroccan torturer Mouhtat Abdelbasset to the police station in the occupied city of Smara, blaming them for "giving refuge to instigators of the Intifada of Independence".

 

The two mothers were also "threatened of a possible ransacking of their houses if demonstrators are found in there in the future", the same source said. (SPS)
