Intervening during the debates, the Head of the State put forward the importance of "implementing the precedent decisions of the last African summit regarding the struggle against the desertification", underlining that the Saharawi Republic, been the first concerned about this phenomenon, "will save no effort to support this ambitious project".

Mr. Abdelaziz also drew the attention of his African counterparts on the situation of the Saharawi refugees, who "are currently suffering from a serious food crisis because of the lack of food assistance from donating countries", while they are "deprived from their agriculture, fishing and natural resources of their country because of the Moroccan colonial occupation.
