Algeria, Italy for Saharawi people’s right to self-determination

Rome, May 28, 2015 (SPS) - Algeria and Italy reaffirmed Wednesday in Rome, in a final joint statement culminating the works of the 3rd Algerian-Italian high level meeting, their support to the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.

Sahrawi woman takes part in ECOSOCC Standing Committee’s meeting

Khartoum, May 28, 2015 (SPS) - The Secretary General of Saharawi Women Union (UNMS), Ms. Fatma El Mahdi, has participated in a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Economic, Social and Cultural Council of the African (ECOSOC), kicked off Wednesday in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

The meeting assessed ECOSOC’s work in the past year and the forthcoming stages, especially the action plan to complete the representation of others countries yet to be members of the ECOSOC.

AFAPREDESA meets international human rights activists in Brazil

WFP announces Saudi donation of dates for Saharawi refugees

Algiers, May 27, 2015 (SPS) - World Food Programme (WFP) said Tuesday it has delivered a food aid shipment containing 252 tons of dates as part of an annual donation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the benefit of Saharawi refugees currently living in the Algerian province of Tindouf.

“A shipment of 252 tons of dates has been cleared at the port of Oran as part of the annual donation by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the World Food Programme (WFP) in Algeria,” stated WFP said in a statement.

Saharawi cause present at São Paulo international conference on human rights

São Paulo (Brazil), May 27, 2015 (SPS) - The Association of Families of Saharawi Prisoners and Disappeared (AFAPREDESA) has organized an exhibition to spread awareness about the Sahrawi issue, during the 4th edition of International Conference on Human Rights, held in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The exhibition was an opportunity for the participants to get to know human rights violations taking place in the occupied territories of Western Sahara and in southern Morocco.

Minister of Youth says more than 5000 children to spend summer holiday in Europe

Africa cannot achieve sustainable development while SADR pleeding (Culture Minister)

Johannesburg, May 26, 2015(SPS) - Minister of Culture Ms. Jadija Hamdi said “Africa cannot achieve sustainable development while part of it is still pleading, as is the case of the Sahrawi Republic (SADR).”

“A free Africa cannot develop or achieve sustainable development, while part of it still pleading,” stated the Minister, in a speech delivered at the Fourth African Conference on Culture, held from 25 to 27 May 2015 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Zimbabwe reiterates solidarity with Saharawi people struggle

Harare, May 26, 2015 (SPS) - Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe has renewed his country’s support and solidarity with the struggle of the Saharawi people for freedom and independence, in a statement delivered on his own behalf by FM Simbarashe Mumbengegwi in a ceremony hosted Monday by Zimbabwe Foreign Ministry to mark the 52nd anniversary of Africa Day.
