Polisario reiterates its readiness to cooperate with United Nations for just and lasting solution to conflict in Western Sahara


Shahid al Hafed, April, 23, 2009 (SPS) The bureau of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front reiterated Thursday the readiness of the Polisario Front, to fully cooperate with the Secretary general of the United Nations and his Personal Envoy to achieve a just and lasting solution to the conflict in Western Sahara, to enable the Saharawi people to exercise its inalienable right to self-determination and independence.
 
The bureau in its regular session Meeting, chaired Thursday by the President of the Republic and the Secritary General, Mohamed Abdelaziz, has requested the Security Council to ""take all appropriate measures to impose the international legality, and to accelerate the organization of self-determination referendum for the Saharawi people, the only democratic and transparent solution witch consistent with the Charter of the United Nations”. 

It also renewed its call for the creation of an effective mechanism within the MINURSO , to control , report and ensure the protection of human rights in occupied Western Sahara, , in line with the role and responsibility of the United Nations to protect and promote human rights around the world. 

In this regard, the bureau of the NS of the Polisario Front has demanded the dismantling of the Moroccan wall of shame, "crime against humanity", which divides the Western Sahara and its people for decades. 

It reviewed the preparations for the holding of the 6th edition of International Film Festival in Western Sahara, to be held from 4 to 9 May in the camps in the wilaya of Dakhla in the presence of personalities and renowned international filmmakers. 

The bureau of the NS has welcomed international organizations, including the Southern African development community (SADC) and Human Rights Watch and others whom have called the Security Council to establish an appropriate mechanism in promptly to ensure the protection of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.
