Tifariti (liberated territories), Feb 27, 2009 (SPS) An important part of the events celebrating 33 anniversary of the proclamation of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic was launched Friday in liberated Tifariti, which coincides with 17 edition of Martyr Alwali military competition.
The celebrations were supervised by member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front and National Defence Minister, Mohamed Lamine Buhali, and member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front and Chief of the Political Direction of the Polisario Front, Bashir Mustafa Sayed in the presence of members of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, Government of SADR , National Council (Parliament), and the Staff of Saharawi People's Liberation Army , a large crowd of the residents of the area, as well as foreign delegations and media.
Units of the second military Region, military vehicles and weapons paraded, and a graduating new military armed forces to reinforce the Saharawi Armed Forces bearing the name of Martyr Bukhari Ballali Salek , made a military performance before the honour platform, followed by parades of sport teams of the military regions participating in the finals of the competitions.
The Minister of National Defence said in a statement to the media that the Saharawi People’s Liberation Army "fed up with the long wait, is fully prepared for the resumption of fighting in the event of the failure of Mr. Christopher Ross’ mission," and hoped he will contribute by " his political expertise in finding a peaceful and just solution ensuring the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination ".
