Shahid Al Hafed, 04/02/2009 (SPS) The Ambassador of SADR to Algeria, Brahim Ghali, said Monday that the new Personal Envoy of the SG of the UN to Western Sahara, the American Diplomat, Christopher Ross, will begin a tour of the region later this week, in a statement to the Algerian newspaper, Sawt al-Ahrar, published on its website.
The Saharawi diplomat said "the date and place for holding a fifth round of talks between POLISARIO Front and Morocco will be decided after the result of this tour."
Mr. Ghali affirmed that the leadership of POLISARIO Front has not informed of the date of the visit, adding that it will take place at the end of this week or early next week. "
The UN Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-Moon announced Monday at the XII Summit of the African Union in Addis Ababa, that further negotiations will be restarted "soon" between Morocco and POLISARIO Front.
The appointment of U.S. Diplomat to the post in the wake of the failure of attempts by Morocco to make its autonomy proposal endorsed by UN, and the departure of Mr. Peter Van Walsum whose approach was rejected by the Secretary General of the United Nations and the Security Council. (SPS)
