Algiers, Nov 2, 2012 (SPS) - The President of the Algerian National Consultative Commission for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights, Mr. Farouk Ksentini, emphasized that the struggle of the Saharawi people “will inevitably lead to the independence of Western Sahara.”
During a meeting with Saharawi rights delegations from the occupied territories, Mr. Ksentini underlined that France acted as a terrorist state with Algeria and Morocco follow the same position through its terrorist acts in Western Sahara.
Regarding the state of human rights in occupied Western Sahara, Algerian Official said that human rights of the Saharawis “daily violated” by Morocco.
From her part, the Representative of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights Ms. Maya Swahili revealed that she is about to finish a report on the situation of human rights in the occupied Saharawi territories, which will be submitted to the AU Summit next January.
She indicated that the African Union asked the Commission to conduct an investigation on this topic, expressing regret for Moroccan authorities’ refusal to grant members of the Commission license to visit the territories.
The Algerian National Committee of Solidarity with the Saharawi People has organized between October 31st until Nov 2nd set of activities and festivities of solidarity in Algiers, with the participation of 30 Saharawi rights activists from occupied Western Sahara and representative of civil society of Africa and other participants from different continents.
