Re-appointment of Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar as prime minister in the Saharawi government

Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps), January 1, 2012 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Frente Polisario, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, re-appointed Saturday Mr. Abdelakader Taleb Omar a Prime Minister in the government of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), according to a statement issued by SADR Presidency.

The appointment comes under the Article 53 of SADR Constitution issue by the Thirteenth Congress of the Polisario Front, which was held in the liberated territory of Tifariti in the period from Dec 15 to 22, 2011.

The statement indicated that the President of the Republic, after he received on Saturday the decisions of the 13th Congress of the Frente Polisario from the Congress Presidency especially the documents of Basic Law and the Constitution and under the Article 53 of the latter, he received Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, member of the National Secretariat, and appointed him a prime minister in the Saharawi government to be named later.

It should be recalled that Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar has appointed for the post of prime minister for the third consecutive time since 2003.

He had already held several political and administrative positions, including a Chargee of Communities Abroad and Occupied Territories, Minister of Interior, Minister of Equipment and Minister of Information.

He also served as a chairman of the Saharawi National Council in 1995. (SPS)
